Information about the course for supervisors

In reference to an announcement posted on CBT Center website (www.cbtedu.pl) about a course for supervisors offered by the Center, we would like to inform you that according to the PACBT training standards, the Polish Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies is the only institution conducting workshops leading to the PABCT Certificate of Supervisor and Educator. No other institution is licensed to offer courses leading to the PABCT Supervisor and Educator Certificate, even if licensed to conduct the PABCT therapist certification training.

The European Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies has yet to specify unified procedures for training leading to a certificate of a cognitive and behavioral therapy supervisor. At this time, programs of training for supervisors are under the discretion of the member associations of EBCT.

As with the Cognitive and Behavioral Therapist certificate, each certificate of supervisor obtained abroad is subject to approval by the Board of Directors of PABCT, after a positive recommendation from the Committee of Science and Didactics. The decision to recognize a certificate received in another country as equivalent to PABCT certificate is based on whether it meets the criteria of standard training as defined by PABCT. Similar procedures are employed by many other EU countries.

Hence, any information about „automatic recognition” of a supervisor certificate received abroad (source: http://www.cbtedu.pl/portal/index.php?q=pl/node/1026&tab=0) is FALSE and should be treated as MISLEADING by the potential course participants. The CBT Center was informed by PABCT that neither the form nor the program of the course meet th PABCT training standards and that the CBT Center is required to correct this deceptive information.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that under current law as specified by the Executive Regulation No 60/2009/DSOZ of the Director of NFZ from November 2, 2009, regarding the terms and conditions of psychiatric and addiction treatment, both PABCT certified therapists and supervisors-educators meet the criteria for providing psychotherapy eligible for coverage under public insurance.

The Board of Directors and the Committee of Science and Didactics of the Polish Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies PABCT
